Notes for Elsie Florence (Spouse 1)
DALHART - Florene Brown, 81, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Dalhart. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home.

Flo was born May 4, 1926, in Texline to Lewis and Leta Wadkins Johnson. In 1948 she moved to Dalhart where she met her husband of 48 years, Wesley Brown. She spent most of her time as a homemaker. Flo also was a baby sitter and worked at the local laundromat. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dalhart.

In 1999 she moved to Amarillo with her daughter, Kay Lynn Fuller. She became very active in the United Way as a spokesperson. Flo attended Jan Werner Adult Day Care five times a week and joined the South Georgia Baptist Church. In 2006 she moved to Kirkland Court nursing facility, where she met many new friends and played multiple games of bingo. She enjoyed singing, word-find books, playing wahoo and chicken foot and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to attend any baseball game she could.

The family would like to give thanks to Kirkland Court, BSA Hospital staff and Texas Tech School of Medicine - Dr. Jerry Kirkland.

Survivors include a daughter; Kay Lynn Fuller; a granddaughter, Tonia Cordova and husband Philbert; a grandson, Shawn Warren and wife Kim; three great grandsons, Matthew Cordova, Briar Cordova and Caymon Warren, all of Amarillo. She developed a very special relationship with Scott Tiefel of Amarillo, who was like a grandson to her. Two sisters, Maxine Longpre and Venita Bevans of Dalhart; four brothers, Ray Johnson and Harold Johnson both of Canyon, Frank Johnson of Azle and David Johnson of Dalhart; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

“I am bound to them though I cannot look into their eyes or hear their voices. I honor their history. I cherish their lives.
I will tell their story. I will remember them for I am the result of the very love, struggle, sacrifice and journey of thousands.”
