Notes for Charles Baxter (Spouse 1)
Charles Baxter Flynn was named after his two grandfathers, Charles Calvin Flynn and Elijah Baxter Flinn.

Baxter was a charter member of the Central Point Baptist Church, along with his friends Flora and Willie Myers. When Willie and Flora asked Baxter to go with them to the home of Andy and Frankie Brown Gregory, he met Andy's daughter, Lula Gregory. A courtship began, and they married on 16 January 1938. After their marriage, they moved into a house on the Sharp Farm and Lula joined Central Point that same year. In 1940, Baxter built a home on Glover Road where they lived until their deaths.

Baxter was the first elected Music Director at Central Point and continued that service off and on for 50 years. Also, he was the Treasurer for 45 years, with the last 11 years being a full-time responsibility.

He was an accomplished carpenter and electrician. He worked for Alcoa for over 25 years.

“I am bound to them though I cannot look into their eyes or hear their voices. I honor their history. I cherish their lives.
I will tell their story. I will remember them for I am the result of the very love, struggle, sacrifice and journey of thousands.”
