Notes for Warren Washington “Wash” SHELY
Warren Washington "Wash" Shely was born in 1861 in Kentucky to William and Mary Shely. In December 1882 Shely enlisted in the Texas Rangers and served in Company F until November 1884, when he was discharged. Shely subsequently became sheriff of Starr County, Texas, and he was a leading figure in county politics until 1905, when he became incapacitated due to a nervous disorder. Shely died in Rio Grande City on March 19, 1909.
