William Trigg Jr. was born in 1742 in Virginia, the second son of William Sr. and Mary Johns Trigg. He lived in Bedford county, Virginia. Caswell County, North Carolina was the home of the prominent Saunders family. William married Sarah Saunders about 1765, daughter of Colonel James Saunders. At one time he served as a Justice of the Peace, a prominent position in those days. William Trigg, Jr. was appointed Lieutenant Colonel of Bedford County, Virginia troops, 1778, and was Colonel at close of the war. His DAR Registry number is A115123.
