Lois A. Hurt was born July 29, 1941 in Cincinnati, Ohio and passed away July 9, 2011 in Houston, Texas at the age of 69.
She graduated from Regina High School. Following high school she entered the religious life as a Sister of The Precious Blood (CPPS) for 8 years, taking the name Sister Angelo. While there she attended and graduated from the University of Dayton.
She spent her working years as a school teacher, focusing on math. In 1970 she met Bob Hurt and they were married. Lois was an Army wife for 25 years and in 1991 Bob and Lois moved to The Woodlands where they have resided for the last 20 years.
She has served in numerous church and civic organizations in The Woodlands. Lois was a lover of Notre Dame Fighting Irish football, an avid card player, Scrabble player and puzzle maker. With her Army husband Bob she traveled to 49 states and 28 countries. She was a member of PEO, the Arlington Ladies, was Chairman of the Scholarship committee at the Center for the Performing Arts and has an annual scholarship named for her, in addition to multiple book clubs, rosary groups, bridge clubs and walking groups.
Her number one passion in life was friends and family and she spent hours emailing, calling and communicating with friends and loved ones around the world.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Helen Baxter. Lois is survived by her loving husband, Bob Hurt; son, Chip Hurt; sisters, Gail Pesa and Elaine Shinkle along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, July 15, 2011 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 7801 Bay Branch Drive, The Woodlands, TX. 77382.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Montgomery County Women's Center, 1600 Lake Front Drive #100, The Woodlands, TX. 77380 in memory of Lois.
