EDEN - Mr. Samuel Garrett Bowling, 46, of 1119 Trogdon Dr. died Saturday, August 12, 1995, at his residence.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Garden.
A native of Leaksville (now Eden), he was an employee of Proctor & Gamble, a self-employed paint contractor, and a Vietnam veteran. He had a degree in textile technology and was machinist. He was a donor of 11 gallons of blood. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Draper.
Surviving are his wife, Julia R. Bowling; daughter, Samantha Bowling of Eden; son, Beau Bowling of the home; father and mother, Clarence and Jeanette Bowling; sister, Anita Bowling; brothers, Chuck Bowling, C.V. Bowling all of Eden; a twin brother, Danny Bowling of Columbus, Ga.

Sam was named for Dr. Samuel Newman of Danville, Virginia and Uncle Garrett Cochran. He graduated from Morehead High School in 1967 and served two years in the Army training scout dogs. Sam earned a degree at Rockingham Community College and was a supervisor at Karastan (Fieldcrest-Canon Inc.) Mills until 1990. Just prior to his death from cancer, Sam was employed by Procter and Gamble in Greensboro. Sam was an accomplished house painter whose talents were highly sought after. He loved to fish and have fun and is sorely missed by all who knew him, especially by his family.
