Information received in Mar 1998 from Donna Lee Sandusky Plummer. AFN: L8X7-3J. He was a school teacher. At the time of their marriage, he was the principal of Priestly Academy. He was of English descent. Was born on a farm on the Cumberland River in Overton Co., Tennessee. After several years of moving throughout Tennessee, Kentucky, and Miss., he settled in Illinois where he became a friend of Abraham Lincoln.

GREENE, William G., pioneer, was born in Tennessee in 1812; came to Illinois in 1822 with his father (Bowling Greene), who settled in the vicinity of New Salem, now in Menard County. They younger Greene was in intimate friend and fellow-student, at Illinois College, of Richard Yates (afterwards Governor), and also an early friend and admirer of Abraham Lincoln, under whom he held an appointment in Utah for some years. He died at Tallula, Menard County, in 1894.
