BRISTOL, Va. Hallie Stephenson White, age 96, passed away at her residence on Thursday September 18, 2014. Mrs. White was born and raised in Glade Spring, Va., and lived most of her life in Bristol where she was a member of Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Andrew Stephenson and Lyda Boro Stephenson; her husband, Charles Alfred White Sr.; brothers, Roy Stephenson, Hugh Andrew Stephenson Jr., James Franklin Stephenson, and William Roger Stephenson; and sisters, Verna Stephenson Schmidt, Kathleen Stephenson Orr Flick and Pauline Stephenson Stamas. Mrs. White is survived by her son, Charles A. "Bob" White Jr. and wife Sue, of Bristol, Va.; daughter, Vickie Leigh White Shelton of Bristol, Va.; grandchildren, Chris White, Chuck White, Shannon Lane and Kaitlin Shelton; five great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Stephenson Hurley of Bluff City, Tenn.; and brother, William Howard "Bill" Stephenson of Oak Ridge, Tenn. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m., Sunday, September 21, 2014, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor John Markel officiating. Interment will follow at Old Glade Presbyterian Cemetery with grandchildren serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
