!Obit: LEONARD ALVIN DENNIS [Kansas City Star - Oct. 28, 1994] ---Leonard Alvin Dennis 70, south Kansas City, died Oct. 26, 1994, at Baptist Medical Center. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Park Lawn Chapel; burial in Green Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the chapel. Mr. Dennis was a lifelong area resident. he was a metal finisher at the General Motors Fairfax assembly plant for 31 years, retiring in 1990. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

!Survivors include his wife, Margaret V. Dennis of the home; a son, Richard
Dennis, Independence; five daughters, martha Gillespie, Virginia Doelling,
Margie Bell Holland, Lynn Simmons and Dianne Dennis of Kansas City; two sisters, Irene McConahay, Sheridan, MO, and Frances Lindsay, Texas; 19 grand-children; and nine great-grandchildren.

! Eulogy - delivered by Charles E. Hughes

!Leonard Alvin Dennis, son of Daniel and Lucille Dennis, was born January 23,
1924 in Kansas City, Kansas and was called home to be with the Lord October 26,1994.

!Leonard was called to serve his country during WWII from February 23, 1943
through December 30, 1945. He was recalled to serve his country during the
Korean conflict from January 23, 1951 through August 19, 1952. During the time of service to his country Leonard received a number of commemdations and awards.

!Between the time served in WWII and Korea he met and married Margaret Virginia Hughes on June 26, 1948 in Kansas City, MO. To this marriage Leonard and Margaret were blessed with a son and five daughters.

!In 1990 Leonard retired from General Motors, Fairfax Division, after 31 years. Leonard had perfect attendence and received serveral attendence awards during this time.

!Leonard was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

!He is survived by his wife, Margaret [Hughes] Dennis of the home. A son;
Richard Dennis of Independence, MO. Five daughters; Martha Gillespie,
Virginia Doelling, Margie Bell Holland, Lynn Somonis, and Diane Dennis all of
Kansas City, MO. Two sisters; Irene McConahay of Sheridan, MO., Frances
Lindsay of Texas. Eighteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

!Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, 19 brothers and sisters, and one grandchild.

!Leonard was a man dedicated to his country. He was always a good provider for his family. He was truly a family man.

!We shall all miss Leonard because he has touched all our lives in one way or another, as he passed us by.
