OBIT: Maud (White) Ray was born on May 14, 1893 in Sargent, Mo., the daughter of Napoleon and Mary (Brown) White. She grew up and attended schools in Southern Missouri. On October 24, 1911 she was united in marriage to Authur Ray at Carthage, Mo and to this union were born two children, Gilbert and Marie. Arthur and Maud lived briefly in Oklahoma, Missouri and South Dakota before moving to Iowa in 1917. They lived near Lake Park until 1926 when they moved to a farm west of Ocheyedan and later they moved into town. Maud worked at sevral places in Ocheyedan and did baby sitting for area children for many years. She was an active member of United Methodist Church in Ocheyedan and also enjoyed her large flower garden. After Arthur died in 1978 Maud continued to live in her own home until 1986 when she became a resident of County View Manor in Sibley. Last Tuesday Maud died there at the age of ninety-eight years.
Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Margaret Ray of San Lorenzo, Ca.; and
son-in-law, Melvin Truchenmiller of Allendorf. Also surviving are six
grandchildren, Mary Deane Carothers of Fremont, Ca.; Arthur G. Ray, III of
Castro Valley, Ca.; Dennis Truckenmiller of Sibley; Alan Truckenmiller of Laramie, Wy.; Robert Truckenmiller of Ocheyedan; and Tom Truckenmiller of Edina, Mn. Further surviving are fifteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren along with two sisters, Ruth Thompson and Carrie McFarland, both of Ponca City, Ok.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son Gilbert Ray in 1950;
daughter Marie Truckenmiller in 1970; four brothers, one sister and two
great-grandchildren. BLESSED BE HER MEMORY
