On 17 May 1750, Abraham Forrest bought 400 acres "on south side of Deep Creek, part of 774 acres patented to Robert Moody in February 1737/38". That land now lies in Nottoway County, Va. on the headwaters of Deep Creek not far from the site of modern day Burkeville. It was also not far from the lands settled by Joseph Motley, who married a daughter of his, Elizabeth.402
