Edward Sr. son of George Clingan from Ireland. Ed Sr. immigrated to the US from Ireland with his Father George, and George's two brothers William and John Thomas. They settled near the town of Sharon in Mercer County, Penn. Edward's uncle William was one of the Signers of the Articles of Confederation. Edward married first Elizabeth Patton on Feb. 15, 1774. They had 5 children. They moved to Tenn. in 1790. Elizabeth died on April 15, 1792. Edward Sr. married a second time on Oct 11, 1792 to Jennet Kincaid (Memorial# 67640284). They had 8 children. Two of those children are A. A. Clingan (Memorial# 12545875) and James Cowan Clingan (Memorial# 67639668).
