Guy Davis Aug. 15, 1927 - Mar. 27, 2015
Guy Davis, of Hewitt, passed away suddenly Friday, March 27, 2015, at Providence Hospital. Services will be 12 p.m., Wednesday, April 1, at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Guy enlisted in the United States Army in 1944, serving with distinction and pride in the 759 Field Artillery Battalion. Corporal Davis received numerous awards and citations including sharpshooter qualification badges for both rifle and carbine, EAMET Ribbon and the Bronze Service Star for Germany Campaign.Guy is a member of VFW Post 6008 Hewitt and Village Mills Member of American Legion Post 299 Woodville, as well as a member of Magnolia Masonic Lodge in Woodville for 50 years.
His career after the military service was a tire builder for General Tire in Waco, and then entered the insurance business, where he has worked for the past 47 years.He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Roxie and Hedrick Davis; Brothers, Leonard, Dillard, Clarence, Allen Davis; and sister, Mary Townsend.
Survivors are his children, Jerry Davis of McGregor, Larry Davis and wife, Vivian, of Devers, Texas, Mary Porres and husband, Victor, of Hewitt; grandchildren, Mandy Jones and husband, Josh, of Hewitt, Jared Davis of Grand Prairie; one great-grandchild, Clint Wellbrock; brother, Rex Davis and wife, Shirley, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Reed Davis and wife, Kitty, of Shelbyville, Tennessee, Glen Davis and wife, Hilda; sister, Donna Tuttle and husband, Ken, and J.V.
