Letha K. Ryan 1921-2005

Letha Katherine Modglin Ryan, 83, St. Joseph, Mo., died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at her home with her
niece at her side.

Born Oct. 10, 1921, in Ravenwood, Mo., she was raised there and attended school in Buffalo, Minn. She
lived most of her life in St. Joseph. On Nov. 13, 1942, she married Delbert E. Ryan. He preceded her in
death Sept. 3,1998.

She was employed as a Beautician of numerous beauty shops including the Parisian and Jeanettes. She
and her husband also owned and operated Cook Plumbing and Heating.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, Edward and Jessie Hensley Modglin; four half-brothers,
Mark Modglin, Kent Modglin, Marlin Modglin, and Otis Hensley; and her half-sister, Vivian Dishman.
She was a member of the Methodist faith and the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Post No. 6760. She was a
past member of Pony Express Post No. 359, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Moila Needles. She
was also Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the National Association of the Sixth Infantry
Division.

Survivors: two nieces, Linda Gunselman of St. Joseph, who cared for her and Judy Barge of Perth,
Australia; her nephew, Mark Modglin of Arvada, Colo.; six great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memorial service: 3 p.m. Monday, The Fountains at Corby Place, 422 Felix, St. Joseph, Mo. Interment
Ashland Cemetery, St. Joseph. The family suggests memorial gifts to Hands of Hope Hospice.
