Joseph McGuire Marable's parents were John Benjamin Marable, Sr. and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Roane Marable. His mother's last name was Giles when she died. Both are buried in Elmwood. His paternal grandfather and grandmother, parents of John Benjamin Marable, Sr. were Dr. George John Boswell Marable, a physician in Louisiana, and Catherine A. Faulkner Marable. His maternal grandmother was Mary Agnes Bres, born in TN. She is buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg, MS.
Joseph was owner and manager of The Cushing Drug Company in Cushing OK. He went to Cushing in 1908 and was a member of the 1st Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge, yet active in few organizations, being of a quiet retiring nature. He married Nettie Odile Moore Marable on Nov. 21, 1906. She is buried in Elmwood next to her husband. He died of a heart attack.
His siblings were Mary Agnes "Mollie" Marable Taylor, George "Honey" Boswell Marable Taylor (buried in Holdenville Cemetery, Holdenville, OK), Ann Kathryn "Kathleen" Marable Cruce Lenhart (buried in El Reno Cemetery in El Reno, OK), Callie Bres Marable Montgomery Conner (buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Wewoka OK), John Benjamin Marable, Jr. (buried in Elmwood), and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bres Marable Witherspoon (buried in Rosedale Cemetery-Ada, OK).

Nettie Moore Marable married Joseph McGuire Marable on Nov. 21, 1906. He was a well liked, respected pharmacist in Cushing, OK. She and Joe were members of the First Baptist Church in Cushing. He died of a heart attack. Nettie and Joe are buried next to each other in the Moore Family area in Elmwood Cemetery, Bowie, TX. See Joe's picture to the right.
Nettie Odile Moore Marable and Berta Moore Matthews were the daughters of G. B. Moore Find A Grave #26713541 and Nannie J Moore Find A Grave #26713493 at Elmwood Cemetery. Both her parents were born in Virginia according to the 1920 census. In 2 different census he is referred to as either Garland B. or Goodridge B Moore so am not really sure if his 1st name was Garland or Goodridge. GB and Nannie were both born in Virginia. Nannie's father was born in Germany. They were married in 1874.
