Mr. Broach

Harry C. Broach Jr., 78, of 208 Coosawattee Ave. died Sunday morning at a Rome hospital.

Mr. Broach moved to Rome in 1946, founded the Rome Paper Company and served as president of the firm until his retirement in 1978. He was born in Walton Couty on Dec. 9, 1909, and was the son of the late Harry Cleveland Broach Sr. and Ruth Tuck Broach. He was a member of the Rome First Baptist Church.

He was a alumnus of the Georgia Institute of Technology and served with the 9th Army in the European Theatre during World War II. He was a member of the Rome Exchange Club and in 1979 was awarded the Distinguished Honorary Lifetime Membership from the Greater Rome Area Chamber of Commerce.

He was a member of the Coosa County Club, the Callier Springs County Club and the Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Rome Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Dean Melvin Scoggins Broach, Rome, to whom he was married May 5, 1978; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Felker, Atlanta, and Mrs. Rebecca Bryan, Chapel Hill, N.C.; a stepson, Buster Scoggins, Rome; a step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Dean Caldwell, Rome; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Rome First Baptist Church with Dr. Floyd Roebuck and the Rev. William C. Ruchti officiating. Interment will be at 4 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery at Athens.

Eunice "Ms. Pat" Crumpler Broach, age 95, of Carrollton formerly of Rome, Georgia died Friday, May 8, 2009.
Ms. Broach was born in Montrose, Georgia on September 17. 1913, the daughter of the late Gordon Minton Crumpler and Amanda Elizabeth Dix Crumpler.
She was the former Treasurer of the Rome Paper Company, volunteered as a Grey Lady with Floyd Hospital and a member of North Broad Baptist Church.
A graveside service and interment was held on Monday, May 11 at 2 p.m. at Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Rome, Georgia.
