Notes for Mahlon Otis TUCK Jr.
Mahlon Otis Tuck, Jr., 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 28, 2017, at Sylvia’s House, Ocala, Florida. He was born in Loganville, Georgia on September 12, 1929, to Mahlon and Hazel Tuck and moved to Ocala, Florida as a young boy. He graduated Ocala High School and served in the U. S. Army during the occupation of Japan in 1946-47. He attended the University of Florida, where he graduated with a BS in Business Administration in February 1952. He worked 40 years in insurance sales for Western Southern Life Insurance Company.
After retirement, he enjoyed traveling, hunting in Colorado, Florida Gator games and spending time with his family.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and a long time member of Friendly Fellowship Sunday School Class. He also served as an usher and drove for Meals on
Wheels. He was a life member of the Ocala Elks Lodge #286 and chaired the Memorial Committee for many years. He was a life member of VFW and member of the University of Florida Alumni Association.
He married his high school sweetheart, Della Dodd, on September 23, 1950. He is also survived by his children: Sharon Hankins (Craig), Cindy Aylward, Rick Tuck, Mark Tuck (Lisa) and Greg Tuck (Jackie); 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers William H. Tuck, Sr. and Frank B. Tuck, and sisters Ann Tuck Harden and Susan Tuck and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and grandson Bryan Mills.
The funeral service will take place at 2:00pm on Saturday June 3rd, at First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, c/o First United Methodist Church, 1126 E Silver Springs Boulevard, Ocala, FL 34470.
