Notes for Drewry Ann ”Eliza" BROWN
"Moffett, VA, July 27, 1903: I come now to chronicle the sad death of one of the noble, lovely consecrated, Christian women it has ever been my privilege to know. I refer to the death of Mrs. Drewry Ann Tuck, wife of N. F. Tuck, Sr., near the town of Virgilina. Her death occurred July 22, 1903. She was 86 years, 6 months, and 11 days old. Had been blind for nearly five years, was a consistent member of Union Christian Church for sixty years. She had six children, four boys and two girls. Her sons are all living. Her two daughters are dead. She has 39 grand children and 22 great-grand children living. She was confined to her bed only three months before her death. She was a very graceful and lovely woman, and her hospitality was unique in every particular. Her husband died April 3rd, 1859, and she remained his widow till her death. In an acquaintance on many long years I never heard aught expressed against this noble, Godly woman. Her remains were interred in the old Union Church burying ground near the town of Virgilina. May God's richest benedictions come to the relief of the large number of sorrow-stricken hearts is the earnest prayer of the feeble scribe. We shall not soon look upon her likes again!"
