Notes for William Thomas VINEYARD
Thomas was conscripted into the Confederate Army. He participated in the Battle at Champions Hill near Vicksburg, Mississippi. In this battle, he was captured and then he was interned at Camp Morton in Indiana. Thomas subsequently took the oath of allegiance to the United States and became a member of the Union Army, thereby switching sides in this great and deadly conflict.47
