Notes for William Henry Harrison CRUZE
He was known as “Blind Billy” Cruze. He was in the 3rd Tennessee Cavalry (USA) in the Civil War. He was captured at Okalona, Mississippi on February 22, 1864 and was imprisoned in Cohaba Prison in Alabama by the CSA. He was subsequently moved to the infamous Andersonville Prison near Americus, GA. He received a disability pension from the US Government of $18 per month in 1883 because of his blindness. (Pension case #87789).47
