Richard Lynn Thompson

Richard Lynn Thompson, age 69 of Cougar, Wash., died Oct. 23, 2018 in Battle Ground.

Rick was born Oct. 26, 1948 in Seattle, the youngest son of Julius
Thompson and Lucille D'Ett Wiseman. His family settled two years
later in the outskirts of Portland, where he graduated from
Reynolds High School in 1967. In 1970 he married Renee Louise
Roser and began a 34-year career as a letter carrier with the
United States Postal Service. They put down roots in Southeast
Portland, and over the next decade their family grew to include
three children. He earned his bachelor's degree from Linfield
College in 2000. He retired to Cougar in 2004 where he enjoyed
hiking near Mount St. Helens.

Rick is survived by brothers, Don (Ginger) Thompson of Boulder
City, Nev., Gary (Donna) Thompson of Lake Oswego; children,
Michele Thompson of Juneau, Alaska, Andrea (James) Wedewer of
Fremont, Calif., Derick Thompson of Vancouver, Wash.; and
grandchildren, Thomas and Annalise. He is also survived by wife,
Peggy Robbins Moir. Rick will be forever remembered by his
family and friends.

The Thompson Family welcomes friends to gather in celebration
of Rick's life at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at Savage Memorial
Presbyterian Church, 1740 S.E. 139th Ave., Portland. Per Rick's
wishes, his body was donated to Oregon Health & Science
University.
