Steve Bailey was born November 29, 1955 in Butler, Missouri, to Harold EK Bailey and Virginia Bailey (Peek), and was a 1974 graduate of Cass-Midway High School. Steve served in the U.S. Army for 10 years, with two tours in Germany, and was a Staff Sergeant at the time of his honorable discharge. Steve retired early from Honeywell after 17 years, to focus full-time on his business, Cross-Creek Recycle.

Steve was married to Faye Crim in 1975. To this union they had two sons.

Steve was united in marriage to Della Willard (Shaw), the love of his life, on February 8, 1985. This union created a beautifully blended family of two sons and four daughters.

Steve understood what was valuable in life and that is faith and family. Steve lived his life based on the philosophy "the only thing that remains after we are gone is the investment we make in others". Steve was a kind man, a life-long learner, hardworking and a teacher to so many. He was a man of many skills and leaves behind a legacy of strength and integrity, honesty and always being willing to lend a helping hand.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Steve is survived by his wife, Della of the home; two sons: Steven Bailey (Kaytie) and Jerry Bailey (April); four daughters: Angela Irvin, Kimberly Higginbottom (Dan), Joy Willard, and Emily Bailey (Lance); five brothers; three sisters; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many other dear relatives and friends.

“I am bound to them though I cannot look into their eyes or hear their voices. I honor their history. I cherish their lives.
I will tell their story. I will remember them for I am the result of the very love, struggle, sacrifice and journey of thousands.”
