Obituary: Josephine A. Mummert 1913-2007
November 21, 2007
Funeral services for Josephine Ann Mummert, 94, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir, with the Rev. Chrysostom Ah Maung officiating. Burial will follow in Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir.

Mrs. Mummert died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at Pioneer Ridge Healthcare Facility in Lawrence after a short illness.

She was born Feb. 8, 1913, in Pueblo, Colo., the daughter of Frank and Psquale Geneatta Soldano. She graduated from Pleasant View High School in Pueblo, Calif., in 1933. She lived in Weir from 1946 to 1985, Pittsburg from 1985 to 1995, and Lawrence from 1995 until her death.

Mrs. Mummert was a homemaker all her life. She was of the Catholic faith.

She married George C. Mummert on Sept. 9, 1939, in Los Angeles. He died Nov. 4, 1983.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Ann Smith, Eudora; a son, Edmond Mummert, Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, Carl Soldano, San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Frances Baity, Pueblo, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Edna Lucas, Weir; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mummert was preceded in death by a son, George W. Mummert; and five sisters, Elizabeth Gomey, Lena Cortese, Rose Capanna, Vivian Mummert and Mary Baity.

The family suggests memorials to Cottonwood Incorporated of Lawrence, sent in care of the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Weir 66781.
