Notes for Beth Elaine MUMMERT
Beth Mummert, 73, of Bentonville died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Circle of Life Hospice after a 12 year battle with cancer. She was born July 30, 1941 in Cherokee County Kansas.
Beth grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas. She graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1959 as valedictorian. She then went to the University of Kansas on a Watkins scholarship and later completed her college education in accounting at Troy State University. She was very proud and happy to have worked with the great people at Arkansas National Bank.
Beth was devoted to her family. They cherish memories of her franticly searching for her cats, bragging about finding bargains while shopping, and occasionally losing money in slot machines. Over the last several years, she restored and digitized over 7,000 family photos to help preserve family memories.
After Beth was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma, she took an active role in the treatment of her cancer. She spent countless hours educating herself on cancer treatments. Beth received most of her treatment at MD Anderson in Houston and Highlands Oncology Center, at times being called “Dr. Mummert” because she was so hands on regarding her treatments.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Ruth Mummert, and one sister, Roberta Mummert (Boabie).
Beth is survived by her husband of 47 years, Thomas Mummert; her children, Todd Mummert of Danbury, Connecticut, Michael Mummert of Columbia, Missouri, and Elizabeth (Steve) Kouri of Lenexa, Kansas; two sisters, Joan James Chianelli of Conroe, Texas, and Anna Marie Hobbs Mackey of Copan, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, three cats, and many other loving family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville at 7:00 pm on Monday, October 20th.
At a later date, another memorial will be held in Beth’s hometown of Coffeyville, Kansas.
