Notes for Abraham HENDRIX
Della Bailey wrote “On my GG-Grandmothers (Mahala (Hendrix) Ryan’s death Cert. it states that her mother (Polly, Mary) was: Lizzie Perkins and her father as David Hendrix. Her death Cert was filled out by Jim Ford who was Marth (Mattie) Ryan’s husband. Mahala was living with her daughter Mahala (Ryan) Ford when she died in 1914.160

Kim Hendrix wrote “my husband got all the info. that i have from his grandma’s Bible:)”161

———————————————

Birthplace also listed as TN in sheet on Wiley J. Ryan162

———————————————

Patricia Vanlandingham lists Abraham’s birthdate as Sep 11, 1810, his death date as May 1887, and his burial place as Leezy Cemetery, Steelville, Crawford Co, MO. She has Polly/Mary Ann born Mar 1811 and died Mar 21, 1859.

Hendrickson, Abram & Polly Parkins, Jan 22, 1833 (don’t know if this is them or if it’s even important)163

About 1854, Billy (now about 20 years old) first married Franky Elizabeth Hendrix, the daughter of David Abraham “Abraham” Hendix and Mary Elizabeth Perkins. This family is reported to have just moved to Texas County from Georgia not long before the marriage of Billy and Franky.

The 1850 census for Murray County, Georgia lists:
Abraham Hendrix       age 41  born in North Carolina farmer (I have seen him listed as David Abraham Hendrix)
Mary A. Hendrix        age 41 born in Virginia                         (maiden name Perkins?)
Frankey Hendrix         age 16  born in Tennessee                  (female)
Francis M. Hendrix     age 13 born in Tennessee                    (male)
John C. Hendrix          age 11 born in Tennessee
Mahala Hendrix          age 4    born in Tennessee
Martha F. Hendrix      age 6m born in Tennessee
Researchers show an older son and younger children, also later children born in Georgia. Murray County, Georgia is close to Hamilton County, and the Hendrix are from Tennessee, so it is possible the families might have already known each other. Alternate spelling is Hendricks.154

As far as the Indian question. So much of this history has been lost. Remember that our families were in the region that was subjet to the Indian Removal Act that resulted in the Trail of Tears. I know my family was on the frontier and I have no doubt that some where at some time Cherokee or other Indian heriatge entered the family, I just can't prove it. While early settlers did not care, as time went by and the region became more populated, those who were descendants of Indians or other minorities tended to hide their heritage to prevent discrimination or be marched off to Oklahoma.164

Research notes for Abraham HENDRIX
Listed:
1850 Murray Co, GA Pg. 14 & 16
1860 Resdeer? TWP Texas Co, MO Pg. 13 Line 21

What the sensus for 1860 does show is that Mahala is with Wiley Ryan and they are family 85 and Abraham with 2 of his children are family 80. this would lead me to believe that Mahala is from Anraham Hendrix. Now if I believe this, perhaps David is a first or middle name for Abraham? Perhaps the person giving info on the death certificate doesn’t really know who the parents are?160

Abraham Hendrix: 1850 he is in Murray Co, GA, census stated that he was 41 years old at that time and was from North Carolina. Film M432 Roll 78 Page 256, Family 1496, line 1 Goodspeed Publication says he came from Tennessee to Texas Co. MO, in 1854. He is on the 1860 he is in Texas Co MO and his wife is not with him.160

Della had her name as “Polly Ann” Mary Lizza (or Elizabeth) Perkins in 2005165
