MRS. J.R. Ford, 92, Dies Following Recent Injury
Mrs. J. R. Ford, 92 years old, died March 12 at the Nevada hospital, where she had been a patient eight days, following an injury at the Ryan rest home in El Dorado Springs in which she a broken hip.
Mrs. Ford was born in Polk county, Missouri, on Sept. 3, 1866, and had been a resident of El Dorado Springs since she was 16 years of age. Her father, Wiley Ryan, operated the first general store in Eldorado Springs. She often told her her grandchildren stories of early days, how the town of El Dorado Springs was built around the Spring, and the beneficial help it brought to the sick.
She was the widow of J. R. Ford who was a real estate and insurance agent until his death 15 years ago.
Mrs. Ford was a member of the Methodist church.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Laura burkhart, Springfield, Mo.; Mrs. Maybel Ripley, Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.; Mrs. Irene Smith, Colorado Springs, Colo.;Mrs. Nadine Fapp, Salina Kas.; one son, Wiley Ford, LaCrosse, Wis.; 11 ; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
Funeral services took place at the Gwinn-Carothers chapel, El dorado Springs, at 3:30 o'clock Saturday, March 14, the Rev. Harold Hunter, pastoer of the Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in El Dorado Springs cemetery.
