Notes for Nathan W. MOORE
Probable Suicide.

Special to the Sentinel.

Seymour, Ind., Sept. 3.—About 6 o'clock this morning Nathan Moore, a single man aged about fifty years, who came in from the country Saturday evening and was
drinking heavily yesterday, was found on the sidewalk apparently in a drunken sleep. He was roused by some friends and walked to an alley, where he again laid down. About two hours later he was discovered to be in spasms and an empty vial that hod contained laudanum was found lying by his side. Medical aid was summoned but was unavailing to help him, and he died about 1:30 o'clock this afternoon. It is clearly a case of deliberate suicide, but so far nothing is known or has been developed as to the cause for the rash act. An inquest is now in progress.

Letter from Nathan Moore to cousin Sarah Cox (later Harrod):

Bainbridge, Georgia August 25, 1865

I am glad to hear that "Blue" Love is with you and that you are so well pleased with him for I would think he is a very nice young man. I send you my picture in this letter. I will give you a history of Bainbridge. When we came here we found this place nearly destitute of everything but since we have scattered our little money that we brought with us they have seen to the cost. We can get a very good meal (grub we call it) for 50 cents and you know that won't pay the soldier.
